// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Mark Hughes insists he is not trying to wind up any of his fellow managers after a summer of aggressive recruitment at Manchester City.[LNB] Such is the depth of City's fortune they have been able to tempt their Premier League rivals into sales, with Gareth Barry recruited from Aston Villa and Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure lured from Arsenal. [LNB]It is, though, Hughes' pursuit of Everton defender Joleon Lescott that has made most headlines, with Toffees boss David Moyes enraged by what he feels is a deliberate ploy on City's part to unsettle his player. [LNB]The transfer of Everton's star central defender appears to be inching closer following Moyes' dramatic decision to leave Lescott out of his side's Europa League encounter with Sigma Olomouc at Goodison Park on Thursday night.[LNB]Despite Moyes' criticism Hughes insists there is nothing personal in the way he targets players.[LNB]"It is just a consequence of the quality of the players we needed," he said.[LNB]"That quality plays at a certain level, in and around where we want to be.[LNB]"It is what happens when you want to get better."
