Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has promised he will continue to name his best players in the Carling Cup. Hughes has made no secret of the fact he wants to bring silverware to the club as soon as possible. City sealed their place in the fourth round thanks to captain Kolo Toure's extra-time winner against Fulham at Eastlands. Hughes said: "We will keep putting out strong sides. We had a decent crowd in and it is important we show respect to them and to the competition." City are among 13 Barclays Premier League sides through to the last 16 with only Barnsley, Scunthorpe and Peterborough representing those outside the top flight. Hughes added: "There are a number of Premier League sides in the next round and this cup has taken on great significance in recent times. Maybe it is one of those that clubs feel is winnable as the title is out of reach to all but a select few. You have to make the most of the competitions you are in and maybe we have a real opportunity to win it."
