Hughes happy with Helan conduct

Manager Mark Hughes is confident Manchester City will be cleared of any wrong-doing in their signing of Jeremy Helan. French club Rennes submitted a complaint to FIFA over City's signing of the teenager in the wake of the Gael Kakuta case. Chelsea were banned from signing players for two transfer windows for their signing of Kakuta from Lens, but Hughes does not expect City to face any sanctions. City believe Helan had an existing contract dispute with Rennes before they approached the youngster and the Blues are adamant they have not contravened any transfer laws. Comfortable"We are quite comfortable with how we have conducted ourselves in this case," said Hughes. "We have taken legal advice in regard to the situation and obviously there is an ongoing legal issue with his previous club. But the legal advice leaves us quite happy with how we have acted. "I am sure when we eventually get a conclusion people will see our conduct has been absolutely correct." A string of clubs have voiced their concerns over similar deals, where they believe under-16 and under-18 players have been poached by overseas clubs. FIFA president Sepp Blatter has confirmed the world governing body are set to investigate further cases, and Hughes accepts the situation needs clarification. "If people decide things are not quite right, a review needs to be done as soon as possible," he added. "There is a danger in leaving things as they are but there is also a danger in changing it."
