Hughes hails Bojinov return

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has welcomed the return of striker Valeri Bojinov from his injury nightmare. The Bulgaria striker made his first league start in 19 months in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Sunderland and Hughes feels he could now play a major role in the closing weeks of the season. Bojinov was signed by former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson from Fiorentina in a £6million deal in 2007 but suffered cruciate ligament damage and then a ruptured Achilles. But having successfully come through 65 minutes against the Black Cats before being replaced by Craig Bellamy, Hughes feels the 23-year-old gives his squad an added dimension. Option"Valeri holds the ball up really well and as he gets stronger and into the swing of playing games he will get even better," he told the Manchester Evening News. "His best position is right up against the centre-halves on the edge of the box where his ability on the ball and awareness of players around him will have real effect. "There is no doubt that he is going to be a good option for us in the remaining games and for next season."
