Hughes eyes top six finish

Mark Hughes believes that his side can finish in the top six next season if they improve their away form. City ended the season on a high with a 1-0 win at home to Bolton thanks to a Felipe Caicedo strike. The hosts got off to a flier at Eastlands with the Ecuadorian tapping home after good work from Stephen Ireland and Micah Richards after only eight minutes. Hughes is expected to delve into his owner's riches in the close season but with just two away wins all season the Welshman knows where his side need to improve. "We are frustrated because our away form has compromised how well we have been able to do this year certainly our home form is good," he pointed out. Quality "We have quality here, we have a goal threat and that is really important. As we move forward we look to go into the market to look to add to the quality to what we already have and we need to address our away form. "If we do that then obviously we can build on this season. It's been difficult it's been a hard season for everyone, a season of change. "We know now that we have got through the season and we can benefit from the experiences of this season and I have no doubt we will be stronger next season as a group." With more change expected in the summer Hughes feels that an assault on the top six next season is a realistic aim. "The challenge is to get the top six I feel that is a realistic goal for ourselves," he added. "We just have to be strong and of the mindset to get the job done and we haven't had that mind-set but hopefully we will next year."
