HATCHET MAN: If City want a slow, past-it, basic £60k-a-week defender, Neill is the perfect choice

So Lucas Neill has finally left West Ham after they failed to agree a new contract. After earning in the region of £60,000-a-week at Upton Park until now, that is no great surprise. But talk of a move to Manchester City to be reunited with his old Blackburn manager Mark Hughes really would be amazing if it materialised. Neill might want a final pay day and Eastlands undoubtedly would be the place to get it but City have much bigger fish to fry and are surely not looking to add a slow, basic, 31-year-old defender to their already flabby squad.
