HATCHET MAN: Fantasy football at Fratton Park? Mega-rich City struggled to get Robinho, Pompey will

When Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim was the frontman for Manchester City's new owners he drew up a fantasy team of new signings made up of the world's best players and claimed the club would become as big as they are rich. Robinho apart, they have actually only been able to sign 'stars' with far less lustre but at Portsmouth it will be another story altogether. The club have a decrepit old ground and are rooted in the moderately sized local community so getting top players to go there will be some feat. It might not be quite as tough (or expensive) as Middlesbrough have found it over the years but if Al Fahim is aiming for the stars again fans might have to think more Afonso Alves than Fernando Torres.
