HATCHET MAN: City slicker Bellamy committed to the Eastlands cause ... until club number nine comes

The idea of Craig Bellamy being prepared to clean the boots of superstar players who may join Manchester City in the future is nothing short of preposterous. Even if he was forced to stop playing for some reason and still being paid by the club at the end of his career, there is simply no way the striker would be able to get over his ego. This is the man who is known as ultra demanding, the player who claims the chase for perfection on the pitch is what drives him on every day. You can't see him having the same attitude to the spit and polish for somebody else's footwear. When he left Liverpool for West Ham, Bellamy said: 'It was important for me to start playing regular football. I could sit at Liverpool as a squad player all day long, picking up my money, playing every now and then, but I'd be cheating myself and my personality.' Manchester City are Bellamy's eighth club and he may love the project at the moment, he may even have found a way of trotting out good PR lines, but it is bound to end in tears. That's just the way he is.
