Hamburg's Boat to set sail for City

Hamburg defender Jerome Boateng has agreed a deal to move to Manchester City in the summer, according to reports in Germany.[LNB] The 21-year-old Germany international has long been linked with a move to Eastlands and has reportedly agreed to the switch which will cost City approximately £11million.[LNB]Boateng, whose brother Kevin-Prince currently plays for Portsmouth, has been in good form for HSV this term, leading them to a Europa League semi-final and a strong position in the Bundesliga.[LNB]Hamburg had tried to thrash out a new deal with the player to get rid of a minimum-fee release clause in his contract, but City are rumoured to have come in to activate that clause.[LNB]The Blues are in a good position to finish fourth in the Premier League this season and secure a place in next year's Champions League.[LNB]Former Hamburg players Vincent Kompany and Nigel de Jong are currently at City and are former team-mates of Boateng.[LNB]Bayern Munich were also thought to be interested in the youngster, who has dual German-Ghanaian nationality, but City have reportedly swooped in to capture his signature.[LNB]Twenty per cent of the transfer fee will go to Hertha Berlin, Boateng's former club where he spent five years.
