History

Established as Sport Club Juventus in 1897 by pupils of the Massimo D'Azeglio Lyceum school in Turin, Juventus joined the Italian Football Championship in 1900.

They have gone on to become the most successful club ever in Italian football, winning 51 official competitions - 40 in the national first division and 11 in UEFA and world competitions.

Since winning their first league championship way back in 1905, the club has been an almost ever-present in Italy's first division, spending just one season in the second tier in 2006-07 after being demoted over match-fixing allegations.

After regaining their top-flight status the white-blacks have struggled to recapture their glory days, finishing in a disappointing seventh place last season.

The Boss

At only 60-years-old, Luihi Delnuri's 25 years in management is impressive to say the least. During that time he's taken charge of some Europe's biggest clubs including FC Porto and and Roma.

The Italian had a modest playing career, with brief spells at Udinese and Sampdoria being the highlight. He quit as manager of the latter in May of this year, joining Juventus shortly after.

Preparation

Delnuri has suffered a mixed start to his first season at the club. Two wins, two defeats and draw sees them in ninth place in Serie A, but still only three points of league leaders and current champions Inter Milan.

They enter tonight's game on the back of comfortable 4-2 home victory over Cagliari on Sunday, although struggled to an entertaining 3-3 at home to Polish champions Lech Posnan in their opening Europa League group game.

Danger Man

Summer signing Milos Krasic has started his Juve career in spectacular fashion, creating three goals and scoring three himself in just five appearances.

The Serbian international arrived from CSKA Moscow for a fee believed to be around £10 million last month despite widespread interest from across Europe.

The attack-minded midfielder will be looking to make life hard for the City full-backs this evening.

Familiar Face

Arsenal fans will be sure to remember their former goalkeeper Alex Manninger. The Austrian stopper played for Gunners from 1997-2002, making a total of 64 appearances.

After dropping down the pecking-order under Arsene Wenger, the 33-year-old enjoyed a nomadic playing career, playing his trade at Espanyol, Torino, Bologna, Red Bull Salzburg, Siena and Udinese.

Trivia

Juve's famous black and white striped kit was actually inspired by Notts County's home strip after an English kit manufacturer who supported the club shipped some to Italy for the team to use.
