After the most one-sided one-nil win I have ever seen against Bolton on Saturday, the festive season has brought a run of home games against Everton, Blackpool and Aston Villa, broken up by trips to West Ham and Newcastle. You can?t say it?s an easy run because the Premier League is busy proving this season that there are no gimme games left any more. But with United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs all butting heads over the next few weeks, it gives us a chance to sneak a little higher up the table and enter the new year in a strong position. The general media opinion seems to be that it will all be wrecked by the trouble and strife which are running riot at the club, the latest primary evidence being a scuffle on the training ground between Jerome Boateng and Mario Balotelli, and Carlos Tevez?s words with Roberto Mancini after being subbed. All I saw with Carlos was a player who desperately wanted to stay on the field and help out his team, and you can bet both player and manager had forgotten about it a lot quicker than some journalists and broadcasters. As for Boateng and Balotelli, it?s the norm. You don?t want such tussles taking place on a regular basis but they are part and parcel of football life. I had them myself at every club for which I played. I remember one memorable training ground clash between Joe Corrigan and Dennis Tueart, which looked a bit like bear-baiting, with big Joe desperately trying to shake off Dennis the terrier! There were no problems, and it was soon forgotten. It will have been the same with Friday?s incident. It is what happens when you get together a squad of competitive people, all determined to get into the team, all determined to win. What do you think? Have your say.| Submit Comments| Comments (16)| Printable VersionAdd A CommentEnter your comments:Sending
