Javi Garcia claims he has joined the "biggest club in England" after completing a deadline-day move to Manchester City from Benfica.

The former Real Madrid midfielder linked up with City on a £16million deal as the summer window swung shut. The 25-year-old feels his new employers have the potential to become a European heavyweight under the guidance of Roberto Mancini and their ambitious owners.

"Without a doubt, I'm at the biggest club in England and one of the biggest in Europe," said Garcia.

"So I'm very proud but also aware that I'm joining a great side full of top players.

"The Champions League group is a tough one but it'll be a lot of fun. The Real Madrid game is a great way to start out but we have the team and players to compete against any opposition."
