Former Tottenham manager Martin Jol fancies Premier League return

Despite guiding Tottenham to consecutive fifth place finishes, a poor start to the 2007-08 season saw the Dutch coach replaced by Juande Ramos, but since that time he has rebuilt his reputation by steering Hamburg to within touching distance of this year's Bundesliga title. Hamburg are level on points with top of the table Wolfsburg in Germany and host City in an engrossing Uefa Cup quarter-final first leg match at the HSH Nordbank Arena tonight. 'I want to build a good side at Hamburg and stay here for another one or two seasons,' Jol said. 'I still have my house in England, so if there was a very good opportunity, maybe a club with ambitions of Europe, I would certainly think about it.' A 1-0 victory over surprise package Hoffenheim leaves Hamburg with realistic ambitions of winning their first silverware since a 2003 domestic cup win, both in the Bundesliga and the Uefa Cup. 'We have a bit of an advantage against City because we are at home,' Jol said. 'They may have the quality but we have the spirit.' Jol is clearly enjoying working at a club where his managerial talents are appreciated after his chastening experience with Tottenham. 'It was almost a miracle we finished in the top five two years in a row,' Jol said of his time at White Hart Lane. 'We did a good job. Harry [Redknapp] knows he has a very good side but I had a very good squad as well. "If he gets time, Spurs have the resources and they can build a great team, but getting in the top four is very difficult.'
