Five things we learned from Manchester City's match away to Paris St Germain

Manchester City returned from the Parc des Princes with two away goals to show for their 2-2 Champions League draw with Paris St Germain.

Here, we look at five things we learned from the quarter-final first-leg clash.

1. Defensive errors were costly for both teams

A terrible blunder from Fernando allowed Zlatan Ibrahimovic to equalise for the hosts in the first half, but he was not the only one guilty of some sloppy defending. Fernandinho was allowed to grab a second away goal for City after Serge Aurier and Thiago Silva failed to deal with Bacary Sagna's cross.

2. City have really missed De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne has certainly made up for lost time following his return from a two-month spell on the sidelines. After scoring City's second against Bournemouth in his comeback game, the Belgium international netted the opener at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday - but a goal was not De Bruyne's only contribution against PSG. The 24-year-old posed a real threat and was a bright spark right up until he was replaced by Fabian Delph in the 77th minute.

3. Luiz and Matuidi will miss the second leg

David Luiz picked up the yellow card which rules him out of the return leg when he fouled Sergio Aguero after just 13 seconds. Blaise Matuidi will also be absent in Manchester after going into the book for a foul on Nicolas Otamendi early in the second half.

4. Mixed bag for Ibrahimovic

Ibrahimovic missed the opportunity to break the deadlock in the 13th minute when his penalty was saved by returning City shot-stopper Joe Hart, but he did get on the scoresheet before the half-time whistle blew - although it was far from a Zlatan classic. With Fernando failing to clear his lines after receiving a pass from Hart on the edge of his own box, the Swede did not allow his opponent an inch of space and tapped in to level the scoring in bizarre fashion.

5. It's advantage City ahead of return leg

After Adrien Rabiot put the hosts 2-1 up in the 60th minute, it looked like PSG would head to Manchester with the advantage - but Fernandinho scored a vital second away goal to turn the tide in City's favour. Laurent Blanc's men know they must score at the Etihad to avoid exiting the competition.
