Fabian Delph praises early impact of Pep Guardiola

Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph believes Pep Guardiola has taught him more in three weeks than he has known his whole career.

New City boss Guardiola took charge this month, replacing Manuel Pellegrini, after leaving Bayern Munich.

Delph, 26, joined City in a acrimonious switch from Aston Villa last year after he initially rejected a move before performing a U-turn and signing for £8million.

The former Leeds midfielder has worked under Martin O'Neill, Paul Lambert, Tim Sherwood and Pellegrini but believes Guardiola, who won the Champions League twice with Barcelona, is different.

"The first three weeks have been amazing. I've learned more than I have throughout my whole career," he told the BBC. "It is a big statement but it is the truth.

"It is the way he simplifies things. His way of playing. The way he sees things. You will see what he is trying to do in the forthcoming games.

"The manager has a lot of different systems and it is all about learning different positions.

"I am on a big learning curve. If that can keep going I would be very happy. I don't think I will be a centre-back but you will be pleasantly surprised."
