Carlos Tevez admits he was shocked by the Manchester derby reception he received from the fans who used to adore him at Old Trafford. And the Argentina striker, who left United for City in the summer, has called on his old club United to ban the supporter who aimed a coin at him as he left the field at half-time. Tevez, who looked taken aback after emerging from the tunnel to a chorus of boos, endured a disappointing return on Sunday as City lost 4-3 to their local rivals. Carlos Tevez Bad day: Carlos Tevez received a hot reception and was on the end of defeat on his return to Old Trafford He was equally shocked to see the coin hurled from the Stretford End and has described the moment it struck team-mate Javier Garrido. "It was incredible because I have never seen something like that happen in the two years I played at Old Trafford," said Tevez. "The atmopshere was very negative towards us but it didn't affect our game. The score was unjust. "The amount of extra-time was exaggerated. Six minutes is too much for one half but now we look forward to the return match and we feel obliged to beat United. "I must admit I did believe I would get a different reception from the United supporters. Initially everything was positive and I was greeted by my former team-mates and United staff without any problems at all. "But as soon as I entered the field the atmosphere was very different. It was hard to take because previously I was always wanted by those people. But I suppose in football situations change. "Nobody could doubt that gave my maximum to United during my two years there but I don't think the fans really understand. I don't think the club have ever really explained why I left. "I insist that the club didn't treat me correctly and they only tried to keep me at the last minute. I don't think I deserve that." Tevez played for two years at United on a loan deal that could have been made permanent for a fee of about £25million. Javier Garrido (left), Carlos Tevez and Patrice Evra Target? A coin hurled from the Stretford End hits Javier Garrido (left) as Carlos Tevez leaves the Old Trafford pitch at half time during the Manchester derby Once a period of exclusivity passed to complete the deal in January, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and some of the biggest clubs on the Continent showed interest in the former West Ham star, who eventually chose City. Tevez recovered from a knee injury to play on Sunday and was instrumental in creating City's first goal before hitting the post just before half-time. He added: "I am Argentinean and I am never scared. I have played in Brazil and was jeered there but this Sunday was different. "Happily it didn't affect my play and I played my part in making the score 1-1. I am always a professional and now my club is Manchester City."
