Eto'o offer from City would make him best paid player in world, says Laporta

Barcelona president Joan Laporta believes striker Samuel Eto'o will find it difficult to turn down a 'stratospheric offer' from Manchester City. As revealed by Sportsmail earlier this month, the two clubs have agreed a £25m fee for the Cameroon international with City prepared to make him the world's highest paid player on a salary of £180,000-a-week after tax. Laporta said yesterday: 'Eto'o has a stratospheric offer from City, which would convert him into the best paid player in the world. 'It's starting to become clear that he has this monster offer. He wants to stay but an offer like this is very difficult to refuse.' Barca need the money to help finance a move for Valencia's David Villa, although there is still a suspicion in Spain that Inter Milan could enter the bidding for Eto'o and offer him Champions League football.
