Emmanuel Adebayor 'desperate' to join Manchester United says Alex Ferguson

Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry have moved to City this summer, despite the fact that Mark Hughes' side will not play in Europe next season. Ferguson says money is the only motivation behind such moves, and insists Adebayor only agreed to join City after his preferred options come to nothing. "When someone offers you that kind of money, it is a big attraction," Ferguson said. "That is the reason they have gone there. At the last minute, from what I can gather, either Emmanuel Adebayor or his agent phoned us after they had agreed a deal with City and then did the same with Chelsea. He was desperate to get to either Chelsea or us." Adebayor, meanwhile, insists Eastlands is credible destination for the game's top players, and hopes John Terry will join him at the club within the next week. "I think there is a big possibility John will join us," said Adebayor. "People didn't believe six months ago that Carlos Tevez or myself would be playing here. "We have come to Manchester City to be THE big team. Why shouldn't John be persuaded to come here, too?"
