De Jong calls for Van der Wiel capture
Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has urged the Blues to sign his Holland international colleague Gregory van der Wiel.[LNB] Van der Wiel, a £10million-rated Ajax right-back who has just been named Holland's Young Player of the Year, is already on City boss Roberto Mancini's radar. [LNB]And De Jong, who is also a former Ajax player, insists the 22-year-old could play a crucial role at the club next season. [LNB]"I know that Greg is on our wanted list at Manchester City," De Jong told the Daily Star. [LNB]"I have pleaded with them to sign him, as we could use a good right-back. [LNB]"The tempo of English football will make him stronger still and I've recommended him to City's management."
