Clichy - Beware the City cash

25 July 2009 12:08
Arsenal defender Gael Clichy has warned players against simply switching to Manchester City for the money. City have managed to tempt several top players to Eastlands this summer, including former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez, England midfielder Gareth Barry and ex-Gunners hot-shot Emmanuel Adebayor. But Clichy has warned against simply switching for the cash, believing there are other issues to consider. The French full-back said in The Sun: "I really believe if you are a player who thinks only about money then you could end up at Manchester City. "You have to think if you want to play for a big club and have your image or if you want to play for a good club and earn big money. "I've been here six years and this is not the first summer where a club have spent big money to get big players. "But it does not always mean a team will play well."
