Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz has talked up the improvements made by South American sides at this year's World Cup.[LNB] The likes of heavyweights Argentina and Brazil, renowned for their attacking flair, have demonstrated work ethic and resilience in South Africa, according to Santa Cruz.[LNB]Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay have also joined Argentina and Brazil in the last 16 of the World Cup, reinforcing Santa Cruz's view that South American sides have added substance to their style.[LNB]The Manchester City striker said: "South American sides have always been very talented but the work a lot of the coaches are putting in is making them stronger in terms of discipline.[LNB]"Because of the type of players Brazil and Argentina have they are expected to play more attacking football.[LNB]"If you check their squads you will see they have maybe 10 players who can play offensively against every big team in the world.[LNB]"But the players are starting to work harder. Normally you expect them to do a lot of tricks and play nice football but they fight a lot as well and are very disciplined.[LNB]"I think those factors make them better sides."[LNB]Paraguay play Japan in the second round of the 2010 World Cup, and Santa Cruz is eagerly anticipating the encounter as he targets reaching the last eight.[LNB]He added: "Our main goal is probably to get to the quarter-finals, which we would consider a successful World Cup."
