Who should get the nod for the season?s opener at Tottenham ? Joe Hart or Shay Given? In Given, the Blues have arguably the Premier League?s most consistent goalkeeper of the past decade ? an outstanding shot-stopper with a commanding verbal presence and bags of experience. But in Hart, they have a young keeper tipped to be a regular England No 1 by no less an authority than City legend Joe Corrigan. The Blues have had tussles for the keeper?s jersey before ? indeed, it was only three years ago that Sven-Goran Eriksson spent half-a-season trying to figure out whether Hart, Andreas Isaksson or Kasper Schmeichel should be his first choice. Hart won. And back in the mid-1970s, Corrigan himself faced an almighty battle with Keith Macrae, who had arrived from Motherwell for £100,000 ? then a world-record fee for a keeper.
