City won't rush Wright-Phillips deal

25 February 2010 12:42
Shaun Wright-Phillips remains an integral part of City's plans for the future despite turning down a new contract offer. But the Blues are in no rush to come up with a new deal for the winger, whose current £60,000-a-week contract expires in 2012. Wright-Phillips wanted a new deal which brought him into line with City's top earners, as the pay ceiling was raised considerably by the takeover and the introduction of players like Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez who command six-figure weekly sums. The player was not happy with the offer made by City, but the club insists it will be working to find a solution. M.E.N. Sport understands the club management want to keep Wright-Phillips, but will weigh up the player's form over the coming weeks before deciding on their next move.
