Reports in Spain suggest Valencia have rejected an approach from Manchester City for winger Juan Mata.[LNB] Mata, who is currently at the World Cup with Spain, has hit the headlines over the past few seasons and netted 14 goals in 53 games last term.[LNB]Having recently sold David Villa to Barcelona and with David Silva constantly being linked with a host of Europe's top clubs many expect Mata to be next in line to leave the Mestalla.[LNB]However the cash-strapped club are keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old and look likely to reject any future advances.[LNB]Mata's father and agent is believed to have agreed a deal in principle having recently met with two City directors in a Valencia hotel.[LNB]Unfortunately for both parties that deal was scuppered when Valencia were then approached by the City representatives.[LNB]Valencia insist that Mata has no interest in leaving the club and is concentrating on next season and playing in the UEFA Champions League.
