City target £88m Benfica pair
ON THE LOOK OUT: roberto ManciniManchester City are closely watching Benfica pair Angel di Maria and Oscar Cardozo as they step up their search for summer signings. The Blues have admitted an interest in the South American pair who are believed to have a combined contract release clause worth £88m. Di Maria, a 22-year-old Argentina winger, is tipped to be one of the stars of the World Cup. And 26-year-old Paraguay striker, Cardozo, has netted 33 goals in 43 games this season. City have already lined up the £11m purchase of Hamburg's Germany international defender Jerome Boateng, due to sign on July 1. But the club's technical director Mike Rigg has confirmed interest di Maria and Cardozo. "It is logical that a club like City has to be interested in players of their potential," he said.
