The Blues failure to grab a Champions League place may have cost them Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic after tentative enquiries were made. But City have not lowered their sights by much ? reports in Spain claim chief executive Garry Cook flew to Valencia by private jet to launch a £25m bid for David Silva. The left-sided midfielder, tipped to be one of the stars of the World Cup finals this summer, is also being eyed by United, Real Madrid and Arsenal. The Blues have also had the door opened to Atletico Madrid?s Argentine striker Sergio Aguero ? for a cool £51m. Atletico coach Quique Sanches Flores appeared to suggest Aguero may be on his way, saying: ?There are many ways to build a team. Either with or without him we will have a great side and the fans should not be concerned.? But Chelsea are also interested in the hitman ? an international colleague of Carlos Tevez ? and neither club would be interested unless the price fell. That is likely to happen, as Aguero has just one year left on his current contract, which means he will be able to walk away for nothing next summer. City have given up on their hopes of landing Torres from Liverpool, feeling they may have stood a chance had they been able to offer Champions League football. They have also been given no encouragement in a possible pursuit of Gerrard and Ibrahimovic also appears set to stay at Barcelona. Would you like to see Silva and Aguero at City?
