City supremo expects critics

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak is expecting 'more criticism' as the club close in on their latest transfer target. City are poised to take their summer spending to around £120million with the capture of Everton's Joleon Lescott, which is expected to be sealed on Tuesday. The cash-rich side bought around £100million worth of players last campaign and, with such a large outlay, expectations at Eastlands have dramatically increased. "There will always be critics and I know that will only increase," Khaldoon told the club's official website. "With the ambition we have and what we have committed to the club there will be more criticism. "It is frustrating but it will only be there because of our success. "It doesn't faze anyone here. We are looking forward to proving we can do it that right way." Mark Hughes' City have won both of their opening Premier League games of the season and have been tipped to challenge for a top-four finish this campaign.
