Manchester City

are expected to confirm the appointment of former Arsenal

winger Brian Marwood as the club's 'football administrator' in the coming weeks.

As Sportsmail

revealed, City executive chairman Garry Cook has always wanted Marwood at the club because they worked together at Nike.

Meanwhile, City are close to announcing a new shirt manufacturing deal with Umbro.

Elsewhere, Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest have launched a double loan bid for Stoke

winger Michael Tonge and Manchester City striker Ched Evans.

Tonge has made just one league start for Stoke this season while Wales striker Evans, 20, is on the fringes at Eastlands.

Championship rivals Crystal Palace are also interested in Tonge.
