Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is ready to make a fresh bid for former United striker Diego Forlan. Hughes and executive chairman Garry Cook watched Forlan notch up his28th goal of the season for Atletico Madrid in the 1-0 win overValencia on Sunday. City made an initial approach for the Uruguayan hit man in the January transfer window, but were put off by the £20m asking price. But Hughes is now prepared to firm up his interest in 29-year-old Forlan, who has been prolific for Atletico and Villarreal after a disappointing spell at Old Trafford. Hughes and Cook are also interested in Valencia striker David Villa, but Barcelona are in pole position to sign the Spain striker.
