City pair Bellamy and Weiss contract Swine Flu

Manchester City have confirmed that Vlad Weiss and Craig Bellamy are suffering with swine flu.

Slovakian youngster Weiss missed the weekend win against Chelsea with the H1N1 virus while Bellamy is believed to be over the worst of the illness.

First-team coach Eddie Niedzwiecki has also been ill, although it is not thought to be with swine flu, while Micah Richards fell victim to the bug in August.

Wales international Bellamy has also been struggling with a knee injury but he is expected to be fit enough to face Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

"It will be another two or three days before Craig is out on the training ground and looking to force his way into the team at the weekend," assistant manager Mark Bowen told the Manchester Evening News.

"We will have to monitor that, as we will with Vladimir Weiss who missed the game on Saturday with swine flu as well.

"There is a little bit of it creeping into the camp - some of the staff have got it. Eddie Niedzwiecki has been feeling a little low as well.

"Coaching staff tend to get on with things, but with players it has to be a little more delicate at times.

"Players come in every day with sniffles, coughs and colds and the doc has to determine whether it's the onset of something more serious. It's his decision whether they have to be sent home."
