City issue warning over trials scam

Manchester City have shed light on an alleged scam involving fraudsters posing as football agents.[LNB] The con sees young hopefuls offered trials with the club by people claiming to be FIFA-licensed agents, in exchange for money.[LNB]City also reported that the scam has been tried using several other Premier League clubs.[LNB]A statement on their website read: "It has been brought to Manchester City's attention that a number of aspiring young footballers have regrettably fallen victim to a chain scam that is currently circulating worldwide.[LNB]"Manchester City would like to make it clear that we are in no way affiliated to the scheme.[LNB]The club's academy has never, and will never, operate in this manner."
