Shaun Wright-Phillips and Carlos Tevez secured a 2-0 victory for Manchester City and ensured Mark Hughes' men avoided a Carling Cup upset at Crystal Palace.[LNB] Joleon Lescott made his debut in a full-strength City line-up, but Neil Warnock's Championship side were on top at the interval having almost gone ahead through Darren Ambrose and Freddie Sears.[LNB] But Wright-Phillips fired the visitors ahead five minutes into the second half and Tevez headed his first goal in City colours to see Mark Hughes' side through.
