Manager Roberto Mancini has admitted he is still ?two or three players? short of the squad he wants to challenge for top honours, and says the club will buy in January if the market is right. His hand may be forced by players looking to move out of Eastlands, with Shay Given likely to request a loan move and Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz also possible leavers. City?s player acquisition group has already started to discuss potential targets, although no definite strategy has been agreed upon. But names have already been bandied around and M.E.N. Sport understands that strikers Edin Dzeko, Karim Benzema and Alexandre Pato are on the list of possibles. The Blues were keen on landing Dzeko in the summer but found Wolfsburg unmovable after asking £50m for the 6ft 3in  hitman. Dzeko himself has admitted he had hoped to move to Juventus, not City, but that won?t deter the Blues from asking the question. Real Madrid have already moved to head off any possible interest in Benzema ? who has been tracked by United for the last three years ? despite clashing with manager Jose Mourinho. AC Milan?s Brazilian ace Pato would also be of interest but the £50m price tag is unrealistic. Mancini would also like an attacking midfielder as competition for David Silva, with Javier Pastore and United target Wesley Sneijder in the frame. If Given goes, the Blues will also be keen to bring in a new goalkeeper. :: CITY reserves, now known as the elite development squad, aim to continue their unbeaten league start to the season when they travel to take on West Brom tonight (7pm). Who would you like to see City go for in January? Have your say.| Submit Comments| Comments (151)| Printable VersionAdd A CommentEnter your comments:Sending
