City confident of luring Real Madrid star to Manchester

Manchester City and more specifically Pep Guardiola appear to be looking laying a foundation of players who are exceptional on the ball and are growing increasingly keen on the 26-year-old German pass master Toni Kroos.

Kroos has had an excellent Euro 2016 so far and has completed more passes than anyone in the competition so far with 417 out of 449. Against Northern Ireland the player completed more passes than the entire Northern Ireland team with 121 which was only six short of the record set by Xavi.

The German made himself quite unpopular amongst Bayern Munich fans when he joined Real Madrid after the World Cup by stating that Real Madrid were a bigger club in his first press conference. Whilst that statement is true it hardly needed saying. The player, or more accurately his wife has not settled in Madrid according to El Confidential:

"The club in question is Bayern Munich, now coincidentally coached by Carlo Ancelotti, who would be delighted to have the blonde central-midfielder again at his disposal, since we should recall that he was on the bench at the Bernabeu when the German wore white."

"Although Real Madrid has no plans to get rid of Kroos, if the mission to sign the Frenchman Paul Pogba pans out, or another central-midfielder that is the object of Zidane’s desire, such as the Belgian at Chelsea, Eden Hazard, the odds that the German leaves would logically be better."

With Hazard now doing the rounds with an offer of £40m plus a player on the table according to todays report the odds of a Kroos departure have certainly shortened. Manchester City would certainly be a welcoming new home for the player but expect little further news until Euro 2016 ends on July 10th.
