Manchester City have had a bid for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi rejected because it was way below his £35m release clause. Rossi joined the Spanish club two years ago from Manchester United who are believed to have first refusal for the 22-year-old Italy forward should Villarreal decide to sell him. The Yellow Submarine have slapped a 40m euro price tag on the head of the American-born ex-Parma player who has scored 23 goals in 57 League appearances. But Rossi's agent Federico Pastorello played down reported interest from City and insists his man will be at El Madrigal next season. He said: 'Nobody has offered the going price and I am 99 per cent certain the player will be with Villarreal next season.
