Carlos Tevez is Manchester City's Wayne Rooney, says Javier Garrido

Tevez has scored 22 goals for City, better than his two seasons at Old Trafford, and he can return the club into fourth spot tomorrow when Everton visit Eastlands.[LNB]Javier Garrido, who should continue in defence after Joleon Lescott damaged his hamstring in the warm-up before Sunday's 2-0 win at Fulham, claims that Tevez has become Manchester City's most influential player.[LNB]'We know how well Wayne Rooney has done but for us, for Man City, maybe Carlos Tevez is like Wayne Rooney is for United,' said Garrido. 'He works hard and gives us a lot, and the team feels that.[LNB]'Carlos is definitely one of the in-form strikers. When he plays, the team has confidence because he is a player that gives his best, works hard and scores goals for us. He is a key player, a main player for us.'[LNB]Tevez scored 19 goals in his first season at United, then returned 15 last season, but he has become a lucky charm for City. [LNB]Of his 22 goals this season, 16 have been scored in the Premier League and City have never lost when he has scored, winning nine and drawing one of the 10 league games in which he has found the back of the net.[LNB]Those goals have pointed City towards the top four and Garrido believes City are well placed. [LNB]'We are in a good position,' added Garrido. 'These are the last games and we have to do well, we have to be strong and it is in our hands to get the fourth position. [LNB]'Our challenge is to be in the top four. The club has invested money into making us a big, big club, there are a lot of good players here and a bigger squad, so our challenge is to be in the top four.[LNB]'We need to rest well because Everton are another top team. They work hard for 90 minutes so it will be a difficult game. They have been playing well recently and we will have to do the right work to beat them.'[LNB]Garrido admitted thoughts of the Champions League are on the players' minds. [LNB]He asaid: 'We are thinking about it. Why not? We are in the right position and right situation. We beat Fulham, a team that tries to play good football, so we have to keep going.[LNB]'We have to keep working like we have done. It's going to be difficult but we are in the right situation to join the top four.'[LNB]
