ShareCarlos Tevez has been included in Argentina's preliminary 26-man squad for the Copa America in July.

The Manchester City striker had not been selected since pulling out of the friendly against Brazil last November, which angered some Argentine FA officials who questioned the validity of his absence.

The 27-year-old still faces a struggle to make the final 22 for the South American championship, which is being held in Argentina for the first time since 1987.

Boss Sergio Batista intends to use Lionel Messi as a lone central striker, with Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain his favoured alternative.

Tevez's club-mate Pablo Zabaleta is the only other Barclays Premier League player asked to report for training in Buenos Aires on Thursday week. Liverpool's Maxi Rodriguez has missed out, along with Newcastle duo Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini.
