City paid in excess of £25 million for Tevez, who only a month ago rejected the opportunity to remain at Manchester United, and a similar offer is understood to have been made for the Arsenal striker. Adebayor is said to have undergone a medical and is on the verge of agreeing a five-year deal worth £170,00-a-week. Following last night's announcement, Tevez said he was excited to be playing a part in the Eastlands revolution and was confident he could help his new club achieve great things. "The manager and the owners are very ambitious and that became clear to me the first time we spoke," he told the Mail. "This is the chance to be involved from the start, an opportunity to help build and create a special experience. "I am here for success and to win trophies. There is a great feeling of excitement around the club. Look at the quality of the players who have been signed and the prospect of other top-quality players coming too. Things are happening at this club. "The owners made it clear to me they will be doing everything in their power to make this an extraordinary club to play for - I look forward to being part of that experience. "This is a new adventure for me and I thank the people who have made this possible." Tevez, who will retain the same squad number - 32 - he donned for United and West Ham, also insisted his decision to join City had been his alone. A lack of starts under Sir Alex Ferguson has always been cited as the main stimulus behind his decision to leave Old Trafford, but looking ahead, Tevez said that given the chance, he knows he can develop under his new manager. "When I get the chance to play, I am confident that it can lead to goals, for me and for my team-mates. I am a team player who can score goals. I know my responsibilities," he said. "Mark Hughes played in my position for some of the biggest clubs in the world and understands the demands and pressure of playing as a striker. I look forward to learning from him." Excited by the Argentina international's arrival and the prospect of Adebayor following closely, Hughes has hailed the efforts being made by the club to maximise their chances of challenging for the Premier League's top spots next season. "This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of owner Sheikh Mansour to make this club the best it can possibly be," Hughes told the club's official website. "Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward. "He is not only outstanding technically but he is a reliable goalscorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting attacking dimension. "It is terrific news and I cannot wait to welcome him to City."
