Caicedo claims Hammers interest

Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo has claimed West Ham are among the clubs keen to acquire his services this summer. The 20-year-old scored eight goals for City in the Premier League in the season just ended and is reportedly a target of several European sides. Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are thought to be keen to land the Ecuador international, who is under contract with City until June 2012. "I have several offers, not only from Sporting," said Caicedo in an interview with Ecuador newspaper El Telegrafo. "There are several clubs in Portugal, Spain and also in England interested in me. The only club in England that I can reveal the name of is West Ham." The Portuguese media believe Sporting could make a five million euro bid for the South American star or even consider Caicedo in a swap deal that would see Sporting midfielder Miguel Veloso land at City. Caicedo admits the Sporting offer is tempting. "I received a call from Sporting representatives," said Caicedo. "They want me to play there and the truth is that it's a great team that will be playing in the Champions League. "But there's nothing defined yet, although they did tell me they had been in contact with City executives. "But Manchester City have told me that, if there is a team interested, they will have to buy me and not loan me. I'm not sure what the asking price is but I don't think it will be lower than US dollars 12million, which is what City paid Basel for me." Caicedo, who joined City in January 2008 after two seasons at Swiss giants Basel, has not ruled out staying with the Blues. "It's always good to listen to offers," he said. "But I would like to stay in my team. I have three years left in my contract with City. I would like to remain in England because I have made my life there. "I have lived in Manchester for a year and a half. I have everything I need. But in football, and in life, you cannot always remain in the same place."
