Bruce looks forward to landing £12m Crouch as Sunderland offload duo

Peter Crouch has flown to the North East to discuss a £12million transfer from Portsmouth with Sunderland boss Steve Bruce. The 28-year-old arrived at Newcastle International Airport at11.10am on Thursday after Pompey finally accepted the Black Cats' bid. Fulham are expected to match the offer after agreeing to sellBobby Zamora to Hull City for £5m, and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring events. Bruce said: 'I hope we can put something together and talk because he would be a player who would signal our intention.' The Black Cats boss is also refusing to give up hope of signing Manchester City captain Richard Dunne and Wigan Athletic midfielder Lee Cattermole. Sunderland's initial £6m bid has been rejected but Sportsmail understands Cattermole has told Wigan he wants to be reunited with the man who signed him from Middlesbrough for £3.5m a year ago.
