Brian Kidd warns Manchester City against complacency in FC Salzburg Euro clash

Manchester City assistant manager Brian Kidd has cautioned against the idea that Red Bull Salzburg will be the weak link in the Blues' Europa League group.

With Juventus due to arrive at Eastlands later this month for a mouth-watering contest and Lech Poznan an awkward proposition on geographical grounds, many City fans expect their team to make sweet music in the city of Mozart's birth on Thursday night.   But Kidd has been around too long to get complacent.

Juventus may have the big name, but Salzburg were the team who recorded six straight wins at the same stage of the competition last season. And Kidd believes City will underestimate them at their peril.

Warning: Kidd says City must win ugly

'We have to get away from the idea that you can cherry-pick your games and just look at Juventus because they have the big name,' he said.

'These games against Salzburg and Poznan are going to be hard and we have to do your homework.

'Weneed to get those results nailed, not be looking at the glamour games.

'These are the bread and butter matches. These are the ones you have towin ugly.

'You can't play pure football all the time. 'InEuropean competition, teams can put a lot of men behind the ball. Thatis the challenge for us tomorrow. 'We have to overcome it.'
