Blues won't face action over SWP Chelsea sale

Manchester City are in the clear as the FA decide whether to bring charges over Shaun Wright-Phillips' 2005 sale to Chelsea. The football authority confirmed to M.E.N. Sport that the Blues do not form part of their investigation into the possible use of an unlicensed agent in the £21m deal. Wright-Phillips, if found to have knowingly used unlicensed agent Mitchell Thomas during the transfer, could face a fine and Chelsea could even face a points deduction if they are found culpable. But City will face no action, with the FA confirming that their investigation into the matter, which formed part of the "bungs inquiry" which the Premier League commissioned to look at all top-flight transfers from 2004 to 2006, is ongoing. The FA have been holding fire on the matter until the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against solicitor Timothy Drukker, who was cited as the agent in the transfer, and who had claimed to have received the £1.2m agent's fee and handed some of it to Thomas. Drukker was found guilty by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal of "conduct unbecoming of a solicitor" and fined £15,000. The tribunal found that Drukker had signed documents claiming to be the agent in the transfer, but that he had not, in fact, acted for Wright-Phillips. | PrintWhat's this?
