Bellamy to fight for place

Craig Bellamy is determined to fight for his place at Manchester City after acknowledging it is his 'last opportunity to be part of a special club'. The Wales striker only moved to Eastlands from West Ham in January, but he is expected to be forced down the pecking order at the world's richest club after a host of attacking arrivals. Manager Mark Hughes has spent heavily on Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor this summer to add to an already large amount of forwards. Bellamy acknowledges he will be struggling to secure first-team football, but the 30-year-old is determined to earn a place in Hughes' plans. "I want to make sure that I am always ready; that if I step off the bench I will make a contribution then be given my chance," he told The Independent. "If I do make my mark I expect to be given a chance. "I am 30 and this is my last opportunity to be part of a special club. "First and foremost I am concentrating on staying fit. If I'm fit I can challenge. If I'm not fit, I can't challenge. "What you live for is to wake up in the morning looking forward to training. If any players are having a bad time, I want to be knocking on the door."
