Bellamy in line for North East return to Sunderland as his City days look over

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is ready to offer Craig Bellamy a dramatic return to the North East. The 30-year-old former Newcastle forward joined Manchester City from West Ham for £14million in January, but with Emmanuel Adebayor ready to follow Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz to Eastlands, Bellamy's days look numbered. The move may not be popular with Sunderland fans who will remember Bellamy's spell at rivals Newcastle but Bruce is determined to make Sunderland the ninth club of the Welshman's career. The manager will also hold talks with striker Marouane Chamakh, of Bordeaux. Dean Whitehead and Nyron Nosworthy are on their way to Stoke, and Daryl Murphy is joining Hull. Sunderland have also offered former boss Ricky Sbragia the chief scout's role following Mick Brown's exit but he is expected to join Blackburn.
