Bellamy branded 'crazy'

Craig Bellamy was 'crazy' to clash with a Manchester United fan, according to Fulham captain Danny Murphy. The Manchester City striker made his way over to the supporter who had encroached onto the pitch at the end of the Red Devils' 4-3 success at Old Trafford and pushed him in the face. Eastlands boss Mark Hughes claimed Bellamy was acting in self defence, but given the fan was being restrained by a number of stewards at the time, the Wales international has come in for criticism. The Football Association have warned Bellamy as to his future conduct but will not be taking any further action over the incident. And Murphy feels the hot-headed forward must learn to control his emotions, although he accepts supporters must always stay in the stands and off the playing field. Murphy said: "Craig Bellamy slapping a fan was crazy. "If he was confronted directly then it is only normal to defend yourself, but the fact that the stewards had hold of him (the fan) made his actions unreasonable. "His emotions were clearly running high after scoring two wonderful goals but it was a silly error of judgement on his behalf. "That said, ultimately, fans should not be on the pitch in the first place and incidents like this should not happen."
