The rivals are looking to capitalise on the crisis at Liverpool and the fact that the Spanish World Cup winner is unlikely to get the Champions League football he craves at Anfield next season. Even if John W Henry?s takeover of Liverpool goes ahead this week, their woeful start to the campaign make them rank outsiders for a top four finish. Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini are both long-term admirers of the striking superstar. Meanwhile Mancini and the City hierarchy are growing increasingly concerned about the future of Carlos Tevez, who has yet again raised fears that he will walk away from the game. The Argentina striker is reported to be disillusioned with the game, saying: ?I have the idea of quitting in my mind. ?Maybe one of these days, I will just wake up and say no more football.? Should that happen, Torres is seen as one of only a few marquee players capable of filling his boots at Eastlands. Meanwhile, Alexandre Pato has said he would only leave AC Milan for Barcelona. He told the Sun: "What do I think of City's interest? As far as I'm concerned, it's an honour. "But I do not intend to leave Milan. I am very happy with the Rossoneri and have great affection for the team. "If I was going to leave Milan, I'd only go to Barca." Should City be looking to bring in a new striker? Have your say.
