Barry made right move

Gareth Barry feels Manchester City's recent transfer business has vindicated his decision to join the club. The England international came in for criticism following his move to Eastlands from Aston Villa earlier this summer for supposedly putting money before ambition. With Liverpool also known to be long-time admirers of the midfielder, his decision to pass up European football in favour of a switch to City bemused some - including Reds boss Rafa Benitez. However, since landing Barry, the Blues have embarked on a big-money shopping spree, bringing in strike duo Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez. Defenders John Terry and Joleon Lescott have also been strongly linked with the club and Barry believes this proves that the future is bright at City. "I think there was maybe a bit of frustration (from Benitez) because it was well documented that Liverpool were in the market to sign me for a couple of years," he said. "But Manchester City had agreed a fee with Aston Villa. "Once I'd spoken to the manager, heard the ambition and he told me what the club were aiming for, that suited me. "People can talk about the money because of the speculation in the media but the players that are now joining are proving my decision to be a correct one. "These are players that are really going to improve Manchester City and take us to where we want to go."
