A superb all-round attacking display by the Blues ensured that Fulham manager Mark Hughes? first meeting with his former employers ended on a sour note. Even so, a number of the City players made a point of going over to Hughes prior to the kick-off, and Barry admitted that a respect still existed for him. ?Especially in the first half, it was the best we?ve played,? said the England midfielder. ?It was a good chance to make an impression and move up the league. ?The players that Mark brought here, maybe there?s five or six of us, have respect and we showed it, but once the game started it was all about City and the three points.? Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany  reacted to the stunning display at Craven Cottage by demanding City retain the same high standard for the rest of the season. The four-goal slavo was a perfect  reponse to the critics who had labelled the Blues as ?boring?   but Kompany said the flak has simply bounced off the players. But the Belgian star says the aim now is to reproduce the excellent form when they face a different challenge at Stoke next week ? and then keep it rolling until the end of the campaign. ?When we came in at half time, the first thing we all said to each other was that this is the standard we expect for the whole season,? said Kompany, again a defensive rock. ?Not for one minute of this season do we want to let this standard drop. The team showed its mentality, and that is a good thing. ?The West Brom performance was good as well ? we have had  a couple of good away performances this season, but this was of a very high standard.? Other results in the Premier League mean City now lie three points off top spot, but Kompany says no-one should get carried away with title talk again. ?The ambition of any team in the top six should be of competing with United and Chelsea,? he said. ?But  there is still a lot of work to be done. If other teams want to talk about the title, they are free to do so but we need to just talk about the next game. ?You never know what to expect of a game but if you give everything like we did, you can expect good things when you have the quality we have.?| Submit Comments| Comments (12)| Printable VersionAdd A CommentEnter your comments:Sending
