Barca to monitor Robinho

Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain has again admitted that a winter swoop for Robinho is 'a possibility'. The Manchester City striker has been linked with a move to Camp Nou for some time and the speculation increased recently when Begiristain refused to rule out a January transfer. Begiristain is not sure at this stage whether Barca will need to strengthen their squad in the New Year but he will continue to track Robinho's progress. "Last summer we tried to sign Robinho," Begiristain told Sport after Saturday's goalless draw with Valencia. "Now he is about to return from injury, and we are prepared to make a move if there is a possibility. "We are prepared to enter the market if we need reinforcements." Robinho, meanwhile, has recommended that Manchester City should look to sign his Brazilian compatriot Ramires when the transfer window reopens. Ramires, who currently plies his trade with Benfica, is regarded as one of the most exciting midfield prospects in world football and Robinho believes he is good enough to succeed anywhere. "I am a fan of Ramires and convinced he will go a long way," Robinho said in the Sunday Mirror. "He is a great player and this is only his first year in Europe. He can adapt to any style and has the quality to become a star at any club."
