Back off City: Everton skipper Neville blasts billionaire club's Lescott chase

31 July 2009 11:41
Phil Neville has accused Manchester City of trying to steamroller Everton into selling Joleon Lescott. The former Manchester United defender is furious about the aggressive transfer tactics of Mark Hughes's club as the City manager tries to assemble a team fit for the Champions League in the future. City have made bids of £15million and £19m for Lescott and, despite both being swiftly rejected by Everton, they are keeping the pressure on. Hughes, who ruffled feathers at Chelsea with his bid to sign John Terry, has again expressed his admiration for Lescott, and Everton captain Neville says City's relentless pursuit of players is unacceptable.
